Faith Communities

Pastoral Care is a key component to a congregation. With the aging of our churches and temples, no one person can care for the homebound members and those who are struggling with terminal illness.

The Sacred Dying Vigil Program empowers lay people to care for those at end of life. For churches that have Stephen Ministry, the Vigil Program adds an additional ministry. They overlap easily.

For congregations that wish to start a new ministry, we provide all aspects of a Vigiling Program.

We often encourage congregations to partner with other churches or temples nearby. The pool of trained vigilers increases and more people are served. Do you have a community center where others might join you? It takes a village to care for our dying, and this is an opportunity to expand your outreach ministry.

Do you have local nursing homes? Vigiling there is sorely needed.

We want to help you set up this ministry in your congregation. We offer three packages to help. Contact us if you have any questions.

Deep Gratitude to Sacred Dying Foundation.
On October 8th 22 members from our congregation completed an intensive vigil training with Sacred Dying Foundation trainer, Amy Billa. Experienced in a variety of workshop methodologies, Amy led our trainees in a spirit of grace and practicality as we learned the sacred art of vigiling for those at risk of dying alone. Highlights included one-on-one sharing, group work, deep listening and a conversation with Dr. Megory Anderson.  We deeply appreciate the integrity upon which The Sacred Dying Foundation is grounded. This program is an excellent resource for any congregation called to serve their greater community in end-of-life issues."
