There are books on death and dying that cover the topic from diverse perspectives. Books and articles with touching narratives that address the death and dying process from a very personal angle are a much different read than those that approach the subject from the clinical or academic point of view.  If you are looking for the personal touch, buy Megory Anderson’s Sacred Dying: Creating Rituals for Embracing the End of Life. If you are a chaplain or someone who needs a quick reference for various situations with the dying, Megory Anderson’s Attending the Dying: A Handbook of Practical Guidelines would be a good choice.

Sacred Dying Foundation is currently gathering death and dying books and death and dying articles into a “recommended” list, to be posted on the website soon. In addition, SDF is in the process of compiling songs about someone dying, songs of remembrance or letting go, and songs that can lift us up in our grief. If you have suggestions for these lists, please email them to denise@sacreddying.org.

“The Sacred Dying Foundation is committed to transforming the dying experience by reintegrating spiritual and religious practices, and to begin changing the way our society experiences death and dying.”
